A letter from an in-house attorney at BP did not convince Louisiana’s attorney general that the oil giant would give state agencies information about the company’s response to the ongoing oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
So instead of waiting for the British oil giant to it hand over, Attorney General James “Buddy” Caldwell asked a state court on June 4 to order BP to provide it. “I was hopeful that BP would cooperate and coordinate its response with the state,” Caldwell said in a statement. “However that does not appear to be the case.”
