Saul Magram, retired top lawyer at the Estée Lauder Companies, Inc., died on Monday at his home in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., after a brief illness at age 79, according to relatives.

Magram retired in 1998 after working at the cosmetic and fragrance company for 31 years. He had joined Estée Lauder in 1969 as corporate counsel, and was named its first general counsel in 1981.
