BAE Systems plc, the U.K.’s largest defense contractor, on Monday named attorney David Gold as corporate monitor, with the approval of the Department of Justice. Gold will oversee the company’s compliance with a plea bargain it made earlier this year with U.S. prosecutors.

Until May, Gold was senior (managing) partner at the London-based international law firm Herbert Smith. He spent his entire career at the firm and became a senior litigation partner after not seeking re-election to senior partner.
