Billions of dollars that the federal government recovered under the False Claims Act in the past two years.

According to assistant attorney general Tony West, recoveries for health care fraud accounted for about 85 percent of the total, which was the largest haul in any two-year period in history. Most of the cases that resulted in a recovery of taxpayer money were brought through the whistle-blower provision of the False Claims Act, he says.
