Considering that the Dole Food Company hasn’t had banana plantations operating in Nicaragua for 30 years, the action surrounding them on the litigation front continues to be lively.

Dole and its lawyers have mostly been winning, but they had a setback in late November. A state court judge in Los Angeles ordered the company to pay nearly $200,000 as a result of a defamation suit the company brought against Swedish filmmaker Fredrik Gertten.
