SAN FRANCISCO — Another chapter in the online privacy war is under way, this time involving Apple Inc. and apps for iPhones and iPads.
Apple and several app developers were slapped with two federal lawsuits in San Jose in late December, which allege that they violated computer fraud and privacy laws by letting advertising networks access users’ personal information without their knowledge or consent.
