Thaddeus M.S. Bereday, the ousted general counsel at Wellcare Health Plans, Inc., pleaded not guilty to health care fraud Thursday in U.S. District Court in Tampa, Fla. His trial was set for the week of May 2.

Bereday surrendered his passport, and was released on his own recognizance. His attorney, Jack Fernandez, Jr., from the Tampa office of Zuckerman Spaeder, declined to comment.
