We’re a pretty tight-knit bunch in this newsroom. We have to be—the Corporate Counsel editorial staff is a small one, like those of a lot of magazines, and it’s an intensely social endeavor to get this publication out the door every month.

More specifically, I’ve been conferring a lot lately with executive editor David Hechler, for a couple of reasons. After this issue goes to the printer, he’s off on an annual trip with some old friends, and I’ll fly north to talk to some Canadian lawyers and their clients. It’s good to hear about the differences and similarities in the work our readers do on both sides of the border. There’s been a lot of buzz—and static, perhaps—about online data and privacy, and the differences between the United States, Canada, and the European Union. For the latest developments, check out our periodic reports on corpcounsel.com, and here, on page 64.
