Sometimes you get a situation in which the timing is so perfect, you can’t help but wonder if cosmic forces are at work. That’s the case with our colleague Anthony Lin, who leads our bureau in Asia, the story he wrote, and how timely it wound up being.

Every year we take a look at the legal and business situation in China for a feature article (the China watch is a regular feature in general here). Executive editor David Hechler worked with Tony on the kind of story we should do for this issue. In previous years, we’ve examined the intellectual property situation, from counterfeiting to Chinese companies’ efforts to build automobiles without outside company technology and production know-how.
