Since Steven Zipperstein stepped down as general counsel of Verizon Wireless last August, he’s been looking for a new challenge. “I’m basically taking a step back and seeing what’s out there,” says Zipperstein, who recently moved back to his native California. “I’m trying to figure out what makes the most sense for me going forward.”
If there’s not an obvious next step, it may be because Zipperstein has already done nearly everything in the legal realm. He started his career in private practice, then spent nine years in the U.S. Department of Justice. Zipperstein won the first case to go to trial in the 1980s savings and loan crisis, and he prepared Attorney General Janet Reno to testify before Congress about the government’s handling of the Waco standoff.
