Theodore Banks, former chief counsel, global compliance at Kraft Foods, and most recently of counsel at Schoeman Updike & Kaufman, and two colleagues have launched a new law firm: Scharf Banks Marmor (www.scharfbanks.com). The firm, officially launched June 1, is keeping the same address (333 West Wacker Drive, Chicago) and phone number (312-726-6000), in what Banks describes as a friendly transition from Schoeman Updike.

“No Russian spies or million dollar loans,” he jokes. “We just decided to go our own way, and the separation is very amicable,” said Banks, whose practice areas include antitrust, food industry, corporate counseling, compliance, and litigation. A longtime member of Law Technology News‘ Editorial Advisory Board, Banks also is president of Compliance & Competition Consultants.
