Now that all of the patent-system reform provisions of the America Invents Act are in full swing, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has scheduled its AIA Second Anniversary Forum.
“The public meeting will serve as an opportunity to bring stakeholders together with USPTO subject matter experts to address specific AIA provisions,” the PTO said in a statement.
The forum, to be held September 16, at the PTO’s campus in Alexandria, Virginia, will feature experts from the Patents Business Unit and administrative patent judges from the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), who are scheduled to discuss new provisions of the patent-reform law, focusing on filings made during the past several months with tips for compliance.
The agenda includes:
- Patent Panel: Prioritized examination (aka Track One), preissuance submissions, inventor's oath/declaration, supplemental examination, and micro-entity discount.
- First-Inventor-to-File Workshop: Demonstration of examiner hands-on training, using a mock application for examination.
- PTAB Panel Discussion: Inter partes review and covered business method review.
The event will be webcast live through the PTO website. More information, including directions, webcast login instructions, meeting agenda, and RSVP details, can be found on the AIA microsite.
