Tomas Rofes, the vice president and associate general counsel of Swedish industrial toolmaker Sandvik AB, had a big problem. The Great Recession was eviscerating the mining and construction sectors, and his company needed to downsize immediately. Rofes had to advise management how to reduce 10 percent of Sandvik’s 50,000 global workforce in more than 130 countries, and he and needed global guidance that was fast and cost-effective. Where would he turn?

“Traditional law firms didn’t have the global coverage we were looking for,” says Rofes. “I was seeking someone who could have the coverage and speed, and do it at a reasonable cost.” That’s where Transatlantic Law International came in.
