There may be new federal regulations or compliance checks on the horizon for companies using debit cards to pay their employees.

In the last few years, some employers have stopped churning out checks for workers in favor of compensating them with cheaper, company-issued debit cards. Despite their advantages, using payroll cards has come under fire recently as the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is getting worried that card providers are piling fees onto workers just for using them.
