‘Twas the night before Christmas, and with the click of a mouse, Santa was checking the blawgosphere, before leaving his house. ♦ On the Seattle Copyright Watch, Tonya Gisselberg gives a rundown of the legal action behind the copyright of the popular carol, “Santa Claus is Coming’ To Town.” The case is as twisty as a candy cane – with actions involving an ineffective termination notice, agreements transferring copyrights and many sections of many Copyright Acts. Gisselberg’s account is best read in full, but long story short – the grantee of the copyright of the carol has rights until 2029.
