When looking down the barrel of a large injury lawsuit, perhaps even a class action, many companies ask their attorneys to work out a settlement in an effort to avoid a long, drawn out and expensive court battle. But what happens when the court rejects your panacea?

One recent example, says attorney Brett Snider is the NFL’s proposed concussion settlement offering $760 million to compensate some 4,500 former players. In a post on FindLaw’s “Injured,” Snider says the federal judge in that case is now questioning whether the dollar amount is enough to pay all the injured ex-players in the class action, and is requesting more financial details pertaining to the proposal.
