Sandy Miller is a self-described tech IPO guru with over 100 IPOs on his resume, and on Recode he explains how all companies can take advantage of the current favorable regulatory environment and banking structure to make the most of their offering. This is his advice:
Meet With Public Investors Preroadshow
Miller says the JOBS Act now allows CEOs to meet with public investors for initial feedback before the official roadshow, something they should definitely be taking advantage of. “While investment bankers offer a reasonable proxy, you can get truer feedback from soft-selling a selected group of institutional buyers as a trial run,” he says. To do this, he recommends polling a broad population of investors and to stray further than the traditional New York, Boston and California areas, such as the Midwest.
