Some general best practices include:
- Conducting a risk assessment of all devices and determining the sufficiency of current safeguards.
- Implementing teamwide password and encryption policies and procedures.
- Educating teams and clients on the basics of ACP.
- Creating a confidentiality policy and circulating it annually.
The webinar also recommended some specific best practices for individual counsel, including:
- Encrypting all emails, documents and data on devices.
- Using password protection on documents and devices.
- Eliminating an employee’s access when he or she is terminated.
