Spending for federal lobbying was down for a third consecutive year, with business associations taking the biggest hit in 2013, according to a Center for Responsive Politics analysis released Wednesday.

Organizations that deployed lobbyists last year spent $3.21 billion, a 2.9 percent drop from $3.31 billion in 2012. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce and other business groups contributed to a majority of that decline.
