There is good news for legally married same-sex couples. The U.S. Department of Justice says it will extend more federal benefits to them, even in states that don’t recognize their marriages.

Attorney Brett Snider writes in a blog post on FindLaw’s Law & Daily Life blog that the Justice Department released a memo in early February stating that the DOJ will “recognize that same-sex spouses of individuals involved in civil and criminal cases should have the same legal rights as all other married couples.”
