Many outside law firms are trying to better serve corporate clients by staking out a presence on their mobile devices. Firms want clients to know that “there’s an app for that.” But many apps mainly provide lists of legal terms or information about the firm itself rather than direct solutions for the problems clients face.

An app from law firm Paul Hastings—the Failure-To-Market Forfeiture Guide—adds an interactive element, giving clients quick answers to an often thorny legal question while also explaining how the answer was reached. It’s an app that its creator, Bruce Wexler, a partner in the firm’s litigation practice, says will help busy in-house counsel on the go, and could serve as a model in the future for developing apps in other practice areas.
