It’s a new roster position for the Minnesota Twins. The baseball team hired its first general counsel, according to John Vomhof Jr. in the Minneapolis Business Journal. Mary Giesler will be in charge of developing the legal department for the major league club.

Giesler was formerly a partner at the 10-lawyer transactional firm of Kaplan, Strangis and Kaplan, where she specialized in public-private partnerships, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, and securities law compliance, says Vomhof. There, she negotiated a number of agreements instrumental to the development of Target Field, the team’s stadium.
