Mary Jo White, who last week completed one year in her job as chairwoman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, said if you think the number of criminal cases at the agency has increased dramatically, well, you’re not wrong.
“When I became U.S. attorney in 1993, there were 67 criminal cases that were related to SEC proceedings,” White said in recent remarks to the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association 2014 Compliance and Legal Society annual seminar.
