Memorial Day is a time to remember the sacrifices made by members of the U.S. armed forces. It’s also an occasion for employers to think about the challenges that those who serve their country face when they are being deployed, and when they come back home after their service.

Those who are serving or have served in the military are protected by the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act of 1994, a federal law that prevents discrimination in the workplace against those in the military, and allows them to return to their civilian jobs after completing their duty.
