In the modern 24/7 work culture, it’s important for legal departments to be able to communicate and share information with outside attorneys anytime and anywhere. But is confidential data being transmitted by law firms in a safe way? A new survey report from LexisNexis casts doubt on the level of security that law firms are providing for their clients’ files, which could spell trouble for both attorney and clients.

“File-Sharing in the Legal Industry” asked more than 280 attorneys and other legal professionals working at firms in the U.S. to answer questions about how they share client information. The data shows a gap of sorts between how much value firms place on privileged information and what they actually are doing to protect it.
