It took six years but Robert Graham, the former assistant general counsel at General Reinsurance Corp. who once faced up to 230 years in prison for his role in a sham insurance deal, has fought all the way back. On June 17, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission ordered Graham reinstated [PDF] to appear and practice as an attorney before the agency.

Graham’s case concerned a deal designed by five executives in 2000 to deceive stock analysts and investors about the financial health of American International Group Inc. The defendants were all corporate executives with either AIG or Gen Re.
