Q. Todd Dickinson, executive director of the American Intellectual Property Lawyers Association (AIPLA), has stepped down from his position, effective immediately, fueling speculation that he will be tapped for a position by President Barack Obama.
Dickinson is the former undersecretary for intellectual property in the Department of Commerce and was director of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office under President Bill Clinton. He has been mentioned as a possible candidate for appointment to a post in the Obama administration, including to his former job as head of the PTO.
