A new top lawyer will be stepping up to the plate at Citizens Financial Group Inc. Starting Aug. 11, Stephen Gannon will be the company’s general counsel and chief legal officer. He will be replacing Sheldon Goldfarb, who resigned to be more involved with RBS Americas after leading Citizens Financial’s legal department for six years.

Gannon is joining Citizens Financial with more than 30 years of experience in the financial sector. He previously worked as the executive vice president and deputy general counsel for Capital One Financial Corp.
