Thirty major U.S. corporations, from Alcoa Inc. to Viacom Inc., Thursday filed a friend of the court brief with the U.S. Supreme Court, urging the court to grant certiorari and hear appeals on same-sex marriage cases.

The brief also urged the court to hold that prohibitions on and nonrecognition of same-sex marriages are both unconstitutional. It was written by a legal team from Bingham McCutchen, led by partner Susan Baker Manning.
