We reported earlier this year that the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission updated its enforcement guidance on pregnancy discrimination, and apparently the EEOC meant it. According to Krista Cabrera of Foley & Lardner, the commission has filed two lawsuits based on the new guidance, which focuses on negative stereotypes, assumptions and comments made about pregnant employees.

In one case, the EEOC alleges Pharmacy Solutions fired two female employees because of their pregnancies and the company’s owner made negative comments and remarks to the women, according to a recent release from the commission. In the other case, the EEOC alleges Tiny’s Organic fired a farm worker for becoming pregnant. The commission says she was let go nine days after disclosing to her employer that she was pregnant with twins.
