With the financial crisis and its immediate aftermath in the rearview mirror, in-house salaries have been growing modestly—but steadily—for the last few years. According to updated data from legal consulting firm HBR Consulting, the trend has continued in 2014.

New compensation metrics released from the annual HBR Law Department Survey, which this year included 292 participants with more than 65 percent at the Fortune 500 level, show that while salaries aren’t growing in leaps and bounds, there is room for enthusiasm for corporate counsel or those who would like to go in-house soon. “The overall outlook for the market is still very positive because there are opportunities for these types of in-house positions,” Lauren Chung, senior director at HBR, told CorpCounsel.com.
