From Edward Snowden to Chelsea Manning, whistleblowers have been at the forefront of many of the most important news stories from the past few years. However, according to a new report from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, companies around the world are not necessarily taking corporate whistleblowing as seriously as they could—or should.
Freshfields’ 2014 global whistleblowing report, “Fair Game or Foul Play? Tackling the Rising Tide of Global Whistleblowing,” revealed that a number of companies don’t even have formal whistleblower policies. The report, which was based on survey data collected from more than 2,500 middle- and senior-level managers worldwide, also highlighted some interesting differences between the ways whistleblowing is viewed from one geographical region to another.
