Five years ago, when the global economy was hit hard by the financial crisis and Great Recession, U.S. companies’ legal departments were not exempt from the fallout. For many general counsel and their in-house colleagues, nothing has been quite the same since. The good news is law departments are doing a pretty solid job of adjusting to this new normal, according to a new report from Huron Legal (part of Huron Consulting Group) in conjunction with the General Counsel Forum.
The Huron Legal “2014 IMPACT Benchmarking Report,” based on Huron’s fifth annual benchmarking survey of legal departments, demonstrates that in-house departments are maturing significantly in their abilities to manage costs and evaluate processes. This has meant implementing comprehensive programs allowing them to leverage data and technology to run more efficiently.
