The Retail Industry Leaders Association has filled its top lobbying job in Washington, D.C., with Jennifer Safavian, a lawyer who most recently served as a senior aide to congressional Republicans.

Safavian, who was the majority staff director and general counsel for the U.S. House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee, joined RILA as its executive vice president for government affairs on Monday, the group announced. RILA, a leading advocate in Washington for retailers, counts CVS Health Corp., Target Corp. and Wal-Mart Stores Inc. among its members.
