There’s a long road ahead for the new general counsel of Takata Corp.’s North American subsidiary, TK Holdings Inc. The Japanese automotive supplier has come under fire for refusing to comply with federal regulators over recalling air bags that could spray shrapnel at occupants, according to Auto World News. The air bags have been associated with at least five deaths. Last week, Takata President Stefan Stocker resigned and CEO Shigehisa Takada took over the role. Now the company is announcing Bruce Angiolillo of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett is joining the company as TK Holdings’ head of legal.
“I’m honored to have been appointed to this important role at a time when Takata is clearly facing some challenges, but also has significant opportunities ahead of it to regain the full confidence of the public and its customers,” said Angiolillo in a statement. “I am eager to help identify and pursue solutions that are in the best interests of the driving public and are fully aligned with our customers and regulators.”
