Mary Jane Saunders, a granddaughter of a Prohibition-era beer bootlegger, is making sure that the law is on the side of brewers as the general counsel of the Beer Institute in Washington, D.C.
After grabbing a Rogue Dead Guy Ale for a Corporate Counsel reporter and a Corona for herself from the beer industry trade group’s in-house bar, Saunders made it clear that her job isn’t an endless party. But the bar does feature four tapped kegs, in addition to a refrigerator of brews, available to its employees throughout the workday, she noted.”I do find that it helps to be sober during the workday,” Saunders added. “But it’s a fun place.”
