Luggage didn’t make it to your destination? Stuck sitting on the tarmac for way too long? These issues don’t really sound like they’d fall under a general counsel’s purview, but at United Airlines Inc., the top lawyer is about to take over customer care and experience.

According to a statement United provided to CorpCounsel.com, general counsel Brett Hart’s new responsibilities came about as a result of the departure of the company’s chief marketing officer, Jeff Foland, whose duties were reassigned to other members of the senior leadership team. Hart, who already oversees corporate real estate and environmental teams in addition to legal, will now be in charge of United’s reservations and customer care team as well as its customer experience team.
