In a move that doesn’t follow the typical career script for an in-house attorney, Doug Jacobs, who most recently served as senior counsel for A+E Networks, is leaving the legal department for a law firm. Jacobs, who also was general counsel of A+E and Court TV (now TruTV) for almost 20 years combined, is now on the air as a partner at entertainment boutique firm Cowan, DeBaets, Abrahams & Sheppard.

Jacobs started at the firm this week and will be based at its New York offices. He told CorpCounsel.com that he’s been looking forward to getting started. “I respect them a lot,” he said of Cowan DeBaets. “They have top-notch lawyers in the industry and clients that I love.” Jacobs has worked with the firm in the past when its attorneys served as outside counsel to A+E.
