Bullies beware! California employers won’t be tolerating you in 2015. Specifically, employers with 50 or more workers must add antibullying education to their training programs, according to Jen Rubin of Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo.

The new law, California’s Anti-Bullying Training Requirements, mandates that training be delivered to supervisory personnel every two years, and it must go over both discrimination and retaliation at work. It’s aimed at reducing “abusive conduct” at work, defined in the legislation as “the conduct of an employer or employee in the workplace, with malice, that a reasonable person would find hostile, offensive and unrelated to an employer’s legitimate business interests.” This could include: derogatory remarks, insults, verbal or physical conduct or “gratuitous sabotage” of a person’s performance.
