Sherry Quirk has seen the light, or at least will help bring it to millions. She’s been appointed executive vice president and general counsel of the Tennessee Valley Authority, a corporate agency of the U.S. government that provides electricity to 9 million people. The TVA was formed in 1933 as one of the signature New Deal efforts to combat the Great Depression.

Quirk will be overseeing the TVA’s legal affairs, serving as corporate secretary for the board of directors and be the designated agency ethics official. She replaces Ralph Rodgers, who’s set to retire after 34 years with the TVA.
