Sunday’s Super Bowl XLIX set a record for the number of viewers. After the New England Patriots fumbled into the “DeflateGate” controversy, like most compliance-minded professionals I was rooting for the Seattle Seahawks. The game was one of the better ones I’ve seen, but I’m not really a professional football guy. (Readers of this column know that I follow college sports.) But I do love the commercials. And car commercials are my favorite.

This year did not disappoint. BMW featured Katie Couric and Bryant Gumbel trying to figure out the Internet. Kia had Pierce Brosnan reprising an action figure role. Fiat decided one of their cars should take Viagra. But the best one was “With Dad” from Nissan, which featured clips of a Nissan race car driving father set to Harry Chapin’s “Cats in the Cradle.”
