In December, President Barack Obama announced that after decades of embargo and isolation, the U.S. and its neighbor Cuba will begin to normalize their relationship. The changes, while still in their initial stages, have begun to open up the island country to more Americans for travel and commerce. And many companies are trying to figure out how to move into this largely untapped market in a compliant manner.
In light of the growing focus on Cuba, professional events organizer and consultancy Momentum, with the support of the U.S. Cuba Trade Alliance, held a conference on March 24 in New York City for in-house counsel. The presentations and discussions at the U.S.-Cuba Corporate Counsel Summit were full of helpful advice for in-house counsel at companies trying to make headway in Cuba.
