At a Friday awards luncheon in Manhattan, Corporate Counsel senior reporter Sue Reisinger won a Jesse H. Neal award in the news category for her article on the General Motors Co. ignition-switch debacle, “The Lawyers Were Here.” The report was a dissection of the actions—and inaction—of the automaker’s legal department as the fatal ignition-switch problems came to light.

The award comes a year after Corporate Counsel executive editor David Hechler’s award-winning reporting. Hechler garnered several awards for his examination of the disarray at Toyota in a feature article, “Lost in Translation,” following allegations of unintended acceleration and electronic faults in several best-selling automobile models.
