Owens Corning is warming up its legal team with a new general counsel. The insulation, roofing and fiberglass composite manufacturing company has appointed Ava Harter as senior vice president, general counsel and secretary. She starts May 18 and will succeed John Christy in overseeing all aspects of law, compliance and securities compliance for the Toledo, Ohio-based company.

Harter is currently the GC, chief compliance officer and corporate secretary of Taleris America, a joint venture between GE Aviation and Accenture. Previously, she’s served as GC of General Electric’s avionics business and held senior legal positions with Dow Chemical Co. She’s also worked in private practice with Jones Day and Thompson Hine.
