When Julie Spellman Sweet was hired in 2010 as general counsel for Accenture, she was told by company officials they wanted her business judgment as well as her legal skills. And they meant it. On Monday, the global consulting firm named Sweet its new chief executive for North America.
She will be replaced as general counsel and chief compliance officer by her deputy, Chad Jerdee, who has been with Accenture since 1997. Both appointments are effective June 1. Jerdee was not immediately available for comment, but Sweet told CorpCounsel.com, “One of the best things about Accenture is that the work our people do makes a difference for our clients and our communities. Together with the North American leadership team, I am looking forward to leading our business here and making an even greater impact.”
