These general counsel come from a land down under, and they’re getting stuff done. According to Stefanie Garber of Lawyers Weekly, the Australian Corporate Lawyers Association has launched GC100, “a forum bringing together top general counsel from major corporations, including half of the ASX 100.”

Chairing the group is Carmel Mulhern, GC for Telstra Corp. She told Garber that the group aims to shape the country’s regulation and government policy. “We actually see how policy impacts business. We get that cross-company perspective, we can bring the legal thinking but also our company experience,” she said. The group hasn’t come out with its positions on any issues yet, but Garber says data protection, corporate governance and practice management will be on the list.
