In a letter to the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), Federal Trade Commission Chairwoman Edith Ramirez said her agency would not get involved in a controversy over the new .sucks domain and chastised the organization for ignoring repeated warnings that such issues were likely to arise.

ICANN general counsel John Jeffrey had asked the FTC in an April 9 letter to assess whether the registry for the new .sucks generic top-level domain (gTLD), a Canadian company called Vox Populi, violated any laws or regulations enforced by the FTC.
