It was late August 2014 when Kim Hopkins read the article. A new marketing assistant had seen it first in a Google alert, and she quickly showed it to Hopkins, the legal and compliance associate. It was about their company, Old Hill Partners, an investment advisory firm in Darien, Connecticut, and about their boss, CEO John Howe. It was not the kind of article he was going to like.
“Better show it to John,” said Hopkins.
