Whether they are working for a corporation, the government or an outside law firm, attorneys are responsible for upholding certain ethical standards. When it comes to those working in-house, that duty extends to ensuring the rest of the company acts ethically and lends a hand in upholding the compliance function’s broader efforts.

So, who are the in-house attorneys paving the way and helping their companies achieve E&C excellence? The Ethisphere Institute, a think tank dedicated to research on business ethics and corporate responsibility, has a few in mind. The institute has announced its 2015 Attorneys Who Matter, and the list includes 19 general counsel and chief legal officers, as well as 33 corporate ethics and compliance chiefs. According to Ethisphere, these lawyers have set a high bar for ethical standards in the legal department.
