The current employment law enforcement landscape poses significant challenges for in-house counsel. Whether it’s navigating new and potentially game-changing wage-and-hour rules from the U.S. Department of Labor or trying to predict where the next spate of discrimination lawsuits might come from, legal departments have their work cut out for them.
One area where in-house counsel’s footing may be a bit more solid than it used to be though is in implementing the Affordable Care Act. Although many companies may not necessarily like the ACA, new data from Littler Mendelson’s recently released fourth annual “Executive Employer Survey” shows that employers at least have fewer burning questions about the law than in the recent past. The survey data was collected in April and May from more than 500 respondents, including in-house counsel, human resources and C-suite executives.
